Covid-19 UPDATE

Currently we are deploying our direct response to the Covid-19 pandemic and Alert Level 4 situation. We are carrying out effective and essential solutions to offer mental health support, especially as rangatahi are isolated at this time. As a rangatahi-led organisation we have adapted our program based on their needs and developed a new response for this unique and unprecedented situation. A topline overview of our response to Covid-19 is below:

  1. ‘Kōrero Club’ — a weekly online wānanga (workshop) where we work with rangatahi 14-18 years old and focus on supporting them to deal with anxiety and stress at this time.

  2. Manaakitanga campaign — our kindness and mental health social media campaign is focused on supporting our community with positive messages, tips, tools and mental health support.

  3. Free Mindfulness meditation & yoga — as part of our Manaakitanga campaign we are providing ongoing free mindfulness meditations and yoga for our community online and our rangatahi and school partners.

  4. ATAWHAI Online — our program has been adapted to allow our wānanga to continue online and will offer ongoing support to our rangatahi alongside development sessions with guest speakers giving online tutorials on topics requested by the rangatahi.

  5. Kaimahi support — our staff, volunteers and mentors have been offered support for their own mental wellbeing, including invitations to Kōrero Club, referrals to free meditation lessons and regular mental-health check-ins with each hui.

  6. Rangatahi Resilience Partnership — In partnership with our Founder Kristina Cavit, we are supporting her to design, develop and deliver online resources for building resilience and positive mental health for all rangatahi in Aotearoa.
