WATCH Mânawa Maiea te Atawhai now on Re: News website and Re: News YouTube

Launching during Mental Health Awareness Week, and coinciding with Mahuru Māori, The Kindness Institute, with funding support from Te Māngai Pāho, have produced Mānawa Maiea te Atawhai (Kindness rising)  – a content series in partnership with Re: News, designed to tackle the complex issue of youth mental health.

The series is a 10-part educational series presented by rangatahi Māori (16–24 year olds) and mindfulness educator Kristina Cavit.

Mānawa Maiea te Atawhai is based on hope. It seeks to tell real stories, often painful, and addresses the very real issue of the youth mental crisis in Aotearoa today.

Part-instructional video/part-documentary profile, the series of 8–10 minute videos shares practical mental wellbeing tools that rangatahi and whānau can relate to through honest kōrero, humour and shared stories, told through a Te Ao Māori world-view. These tools include mauri tau (mindfulness), yoga, taonga puoro, mindful hikoi and connection to nature.

E mihi nui ana to our partners for their support in making this much-needed series:
